This year for our annual BEIS Book Day celebration, we chose to honour the author Roald Dahl.
We started the celebration by holding a costume parade to show off the different characters from his books. Then we proceeded to our own classrooms where we took part in lots of fun activities related to two of his most famous books:
- The Enormous Crocodile
- Matilda
Thank you to all the students and reachers who participated and made our book day a fun and successful event!
On a cloudy Wednesday morning BEIS welcomed the celebrities of the Roald Dahl world.
We were in awe when we saw all these amazing characters who travelled the oceans and bumpy roads of the Philippines to Boracay Island. The morning began with a splendiferous parade before we began our phizz-whizzing party that was filled with wondercrump activities.
Nursery to Grade 3 were in the company of BEIS Crafty Crocs and enjoyed a scrumptious breakfast. After breakfast they made party hats and joined in different activities chosen by their Crafty Crocs focussing on one of the Roald Dahl books – The Enormous Crocodile.
Our Middle School Genii spent the day with the BEIS Brainboxes. Each grade had a lovely breakfast, the same way as Matilda and Ms Honey, Each had to make a party hat, because what is a party without a hat? They also spent time to make extraordinary posters that focused on Roald Dahl’s books.
After the first two blocks, each Genii went off to join Matilda in her different subject classes – from exploring the newt, to learning about being brave, calculating numbers in the clouds to scaring the Trunchbull and discovering the world of inventions – every Genii could learn something from this remarkable girl.
Roald Dahl’s books are full of gems of wisdom. He describes himself as a person ‘with one half that has failed to completely grow up’.
Thank you for every parent, Crafty Croc and Brainbox who made this a magical marvellous day for each and every child.
