BEIS were honoured to host valued members of our local Philippines National Police Force to give a talk to our G4-8 students on how to be safe. Police Executive Master Sergeant, Ernesto T. Lomeda; Police Staff Sergeant, RJ Montaño; Police Lieutenant, Alice B. Juanitas and many of their colleagues delivered both informative and engaging presentations on crime prevention, active shooter protocols, and online safety. Students asked insightful questions and put forth various scenarios for the officers’ advice. For example:

Question: If an adult approaches you claiming to be your parents’ friend and wants to collect you from school. What should you do?

Answer: You should never go with an adult you don’t know. Check with your teacher first.

Question: Where should you go if there is an intruder on the campus?

Answer: Always follow your teacher as they will lead you to safety.

The main takeaway for our students is whenever you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, talk to a trusted adult. If a situation, whether in person or online, does not feel right, stop, remove yourself from the situation and find a trusted adult.

Once again, we are appreciative to have the support and connection to our local police officers and look forward to collaborating with them

further in the future.

Stay safe everyone!
