Welcome Parents!
Grade 4 are really engaged, with their online classes during the month of March. Our classes have been fun, educational, rich, and full of vibrant ideas! – Grade 4 Advisory, Mr. Mark.
Science Fusion: What is energy? Grade 4 have started the inquiry that the simplest definition of energy is “the ability to do work”. Energy is how things change and move. It’s everywhere around us and takes all sorts of forms. It takes energy to cook food, to drive to school, and to jump in the air.
Language Arts: In our literature class grade 4 designed their own super hero character comic writing prompt relating to the novel Flora and Ulysses. They had to write and illustrate something that has to happen from the outside that inspires the hero in a way that he/she didn’t realize before. Then he/she has to undertake a quest to solve the situation.
GO MATH: Over the past few weeks grade 4 has been working with fractions. We have learned how to compare fractions, order fractions, and to find equivalent fractions using addition and subtraction.
Social Studies: Islamic African Kingdoms. Grade 4 has started the inquiry about how Ghana was the first important trading kingdom in the region of Africa. It was then followed by the empire of Mali that became powerful under the leadership of Mansa Musa.
