We have had a wonderful few weeks since coming back to school. It has been a pleasure getting to know all the students and families. Also thank you to everyone who came to the Parent Evening.

In Math, the Second Gaders are learning about number sense and place value. Determining whether a group of objects has an odd or even number was presented through games and other activities.

In Social Science, the children celebrated their individuality and learned about likeness and differences through the different activities in the classroom. This unit build those important beginnings of the year skills and a sense of family in the classroom.

In early weeks the Second Graders experienced what it was like to work like a scientist. Scientists ask questions about the world around them and find answers through different methods.

In the coming weeks we will be learning about how writes work. We will engage the steps of the writing process. We want the students to begin to dig deeper into the text and understand why an author and illustrator wrote and draw pictures in certain ways and that they can do the same based on their own experiences.

Recently, BEIS celebrated Book Day featuring the British author Roald Dahl. The children got engaged and had fun that day!

Welcome to Second Grade! We are excited to begin our education journey and watch the minds and behaviour of the students blossom with good character, knowledge, skills and strategies. Let’s work together and make this a great year.
